Clothing brand UNIQLO announced two upcoming anime-themed shirt collections set to hit the stores in the following months.

The brand revealed its new UNIQLO T-shirt (UT) collection in collaboration with Studio Ghibli, a Japanese animation studio, and Chainsaw Man, an anime manga and television series which will be available on August 21 and September 4 respectively.

This was not the first time that the clothing brand collaborated with the studio. This time, the Studio Ghibli designs will be exclusive to stores in Southeast Asia, particularly in the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam.

Studio Ghibli is the famed producer of acclaimed anime films such as “My Neighbor Totoro” and “Spirited Away,” both of which will be featured in the UT collection.

Seven Ghibli-designed t-shirts will be available for P790. There will also be long sleeve shirts, open collar shirts, kids and toddlers clothing, mini shoulder bags and socks— amounting to 27 new items in total.

Thai artist Kanyada Phatan and Studio Ghibli producer Toshio Suzuki’s art was used for the studio’s UT collection.

On the other hand, the Chainsaw Man UT collection will be available in UNIQLO stores starting September 4.

Chainsaw Man follows the story of devil hunter Denji, who makes a deal upon his death and ends up being resurrected as the Chainsaw Man.

Japanese collage artist Kosuke Kawamura is behind the Chainsaw Man UT collection, comprising five styles of men’s short sleeve shirts.

The designs will feature Kawamura’s “cut and rebuild” art style, which will show his distinct  collage technique as a fresh depiction of scenes from the anime.

“I used a lot of the original anime art and scenes for this collection. Since the drawings are very detailed, it was easy to expand the range of ideas as design material, and I was able to try various collage styles and methods. Even in the rough original drawings, the pictures themselves are well finished, and I felt that they could be used as-is for T-shirt designs,” Kawamura said.

“My aim was to create designs that long-time fans of Chainsaw Man could enjoy as something a little different, and that people unfamiliar with the anime would want to wear as well,” he added.

UNIQLO is a Japan-based retailer which has featured various anime in its UT collection including “Naruto,” “Jujutsu Kaisen” and “Attack on Titan.”
