A van was called out for allegedly using a siren or “wang-wang” in a confrontation captured on dashcam and posted on TikTok, drawing criticism from netizens over unauthorized “VIP” road privileges.
TikTok account “Road Audit PH” uploaded a video of a Toyota van, showing an aggrieved driver confronting the van on August 27.
“Illegal wang-wang. ‘VIP’ daw sakay. Toyota Hiace Grandia,” a text on the video reads.
The video also appealed for viewers to “help” them identify the passenger who got out of the van.
“Wang-wang pa, sige!” a male individual could be heard in the footage.
“Bakit ka nagwa-wang-wang, kuya, pulis ka ba? Pulis ka? Pulis ka nga?!” he added, confronting the driver of the van.
Meanwhile, the female companion of the aggrieved male could be heard saying, “Bawal kasi ‘yan eh.”
The driver of the van could also be heard saying to them that he was “in a hurry.”
When the aggrieved male continued to ask if the van driver was “police,” the latter said that he had a “VIP” with him in the vehicle.
“VIP, pakialam ko!” the aggrieved driver retorted.
At that point, a female passenger emerged from the van and took out her mobile phone, presumably in an attempt to take a photo of the aggrieved male’s vehicle.
“Pulis kayo? Ba’t may wang-wang kayo? Ha?!” the aggrieved male continued to exclaim.
“O sige, okay. Pi-picturan ko ‘yung sasakyan niyo, kanina pa kayo nanghahagad ng sasakyan!” he said.
“VIP, VIP… sino ba kayo?!” he added when the van finally drove away.
The TikTok post also included a photo of the van’s front, which featured the siren visible on its dashboard.

The video has earned 113,500 likes, 6,125 shares, 6,362 bookmarks, and over 3,500 comments so far, with TikTok users sharing their similar sentiments with the aggrieved male in the clip.
“Kahit pulis pa ‘yan, hindi pwede. Dapat marked vehicle lang, like police mobile [or] ambulance [or] fire trucks,” a user commented.
“Nakakainis talaga ‘yung may mga blinker at wang-wang na private sa kalsada. Hindi naman emergency o pulis, pa-feeling VIP eh,” another user wrote.
A different user claimed that the incident may have occurred at Santa Rosa-Tagaytay Road at Barangay Puting Kahoy in Silang, Cavite.
Last month, a senator also called out a luxury sports utility vehicle for using a siren on the road.
Ban on wang-wang
Last year, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. banned government officials and personnel from using sirens, blinkers, and other similar signaling or flashing devices.

Exempted vehicles include those operated by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the National Bureau of Investigation, the Philippine National Police, fire trucks, hospital ambulances and other emergency vehicles.
The president previously stated that the use of sirens and similar devices has been widespread, resulting in traffic disruptions and unsafe road conditions.
“All government officials and personnel are hereby prohibited from utilizing sirens, blinkers and other similar gadgets that produce exceptionally loud or startling sound, including dome lights, blinkers, or other similar signaling or flashing devices,” Marcos said in an administrative order.
