A driver of a ride-hailing app was lauded for his efforts to return an item that his passenger left in the car.

Psychometrician and psychology instructor Diana Jane Badua on Monday, November 10 shared her GrabCar experience with Eric Layos Ovejas, who she said made efforts to return her paper bag.

Badua said that she left her paper bag in Ovejas’ vehicle on Sunday, November 9, but she had already left for the airport to catch a flight.

Ovejas, meanwhile, was already with another passenger.

“So ‘di kami nagpang-abot. Yet, he promised to return my items. Ipakuha ko na lang raw sa workplace niya tomorrow. So apparently, he also works at 7-Eleven,” Badua said in a post on the X (formerly Twitter) platform.

“When our Grab Chat expired, he reached out to me on FB [Facebook] kasi ‘di niya na-save ‘yung number ko. That’s extra effort. Plus, he brought my items to his work the next day,” she added.

Badua shared that Ovejas had the paper bag delivered to her friend, who was in Manila at that time, through a same-day delivery platform.

“Actually, kung hindi lang para sa anak ko ‘yung items, baka hindi ko na lang kunin,” she said.

“May the Lord bless him a [thousandfold]. I left a review [and] tip for him on Grab app, but I also wanted to share his good deed to others,” Badua added.

“This small act of kindness from honest hardworking people should be applauded and rewarded. I hope @grabph will notice,” she concluded.

Badua also told other users to “share” her post for Ovejas’ “good karma.”

Her post has earned 8,200 likes, 973 reposts, and seven replies, with Filipinos lauding the GrabCar driver for his honesty.

“While the world is full of negativity, Kuya Eric exudes so much light. Madami pa pa lang mabubuti. Pagpupugay sa’yo, kuya Eric!” another user exclaimed.

“May he receive many blessings and proper guidance. It’s rare to hear stories from here that restore my faith in humanity,” commented a different Pinoy.

“Mabuhay po kayo, Sir. Sana marami pang katulad niyo,” said another user.

The incident was noteworthy as it is not always the case that drivers would voluntarily return a passenger’s item left in their vehicles.

Meanwhile, Grab advises its drivers to return the item to the passenger by letting them arrange a meeting. Drivers can also drop off the item in the Grab Driver Center.
