— Philippine annual inflation PHCPI=ECI slowed to 6.2% in July from the previous month’s 6.4%, due to a slower pace of increase in transport costs, the statistics agency said on Wednesday.

  • The consumer price index was below the 6.3% median forecast in a Reuters poll.
  • It was within the central bank’s 5.6% to 6.6% forecast for July.
  • The July print brought average inflation in the first seven months of 2026 to 5.0%.
  • Core inflation, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, slowed to 4.2% in July from 4.4% in June.
  • The central bank raised its policy interest rate by 25 basis points in June to keep inflation in check.
  • The central bank next meets on August 27 to review policy.
