Cebu has long established itself as a dining destination not just for delightful reliables like Cebu lechon and seafood dishes but also for its innovative cuisines prepared by talented chefs and cooks.

The newest establishment that will soon be joining the city’s foodie scene is Providore, Manila-based Raintree Hospitality Group’s landmark restaurant. The ‘rolled into one’ bistro, coffee bar, and bakery is set to open at Robinsons Land Corporation’s (RLC) hip new hotel Summit Galleria.

Raintree founder, Annabel Wisniewski says the entry of the restaurant in Cebu is very timely, “We have always prided ourselves on ‘innovating hospitality’ which means creating interesting food experiences that are unique and specific to each location.”

It’s been 20 years since discerning food trend seekers have been patronizing the Raintree Group’s dining establishments. Among these are cultural culinary hub Museum Café, Chelsea Café and Banker’s Lounge, Rocket Room, and Chotto Matte. In Boracay, newly opened Cha-Cha Café is also making waves among foreign and local tourists.

Besides ensuring all menus are well curated, part of its signature charm are the stylish interiors of each dining concept. Wisniewski adds, “We design our restaurants and menus based on the market and we rarely repeat our concepts. We like our restaurants to be destinations in and of themselves.”

For Summit Galleria Cebu, the group found market-style restaurant Providore as the perfect fit for the cosmopolitan city. Cebu is known for striking that ideal feature of having both a first-class urban area, beautiful beaches, and rich farm areas as well.

The restaurant will be located at the hotel’s podium floor and will have four distinct hubs: the Pantry, which will be a café and bakery; the Study, which is a breakaway from the customary lobby lounge; the Dining Room, which will accommodate sit-down meals and table service; and the Game Room, which will offer entertainment for the kids during the day, and adults during night time.

“We hope our guests and locals appreciate an alternative approach to a ‘hotel restaurant’,” shares Wisniewski.

As the Summit Galleria Cebu’s food and beverage partners, the Raintree Hospitality Group will also be offering a poolside Smoothie Bar; banquet services for the hotel’s Ballroom and function rooms.

Wisniewski notes, “We are working on a ‘fun identity’ for the menus and spaces which will be unusual and hopefully unique to Cebu. So, we are trying to get more creative than usual with the approach to the banquet and meeting menus.”

Summit Galleria Hotel Cebu is located at General Maxilom Avenue Extension B. Benedicto Street, Cebu City.
