MANILA, Philippines — Scheduled maintenance shutdowns of the Malampaya Gas Facility next month and in September will not affect the power supply, the Department of Energy said.
The first shutdown, on July 15 and 16, will cause a supply drop of 500 megawatts. The second, on September 23 and 24, will reduce supply by 1,100 MW.
However, the DOE said the shutdowns are scheduled for weekends when demand is low and any supply problems can be addressed by the interruptible load program. Neither will the shutdowns have any effect on power rates.
