MANILA – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has spotted a low pressure area (LPA) some 295 km north-northeast of Virac, Catanduanes as of 3 p.m. Saturday.

In its 24-hour forecast released Saturday afternoon, PAGASA said the LPA may bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms that may trigger floodings and landslides in Ilocos, Cordillera, Cagayan Valley and Bicol regions as well as Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Aurora and Quezon provinces until Sunday afternoon.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience isolated lightning, strong winds and occasional heavy rains from partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated rain showers mostly in the afternoon or evening due to localized thunderstorms, PAGASA said.

PAGASA said moderate to rough coastal waters are likely in Luzon, where moderate to strong winds from northeast to northwest are expected.

Eastern Visayas’ coastal waters can be moderate to occasionally rough as this area may experience moderate to occasionally strong winds from northwest to southwest, noted PAGASA.

PAGASA also forecast slight to moderate coastal waters in Western and Central Visayas as well as Mindanao, expecting in these areas light to moderate winds from northwest to southwest.
