COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A businesswoman was shot dead in Cotabato City Monday while an education supervisor was gunned down the same day in Midsayap, Cotabato province.

Investigators are looking at a land dispute as the possible motive behind the murder of Amalia Gutierrez, 58, of Barangay RH9, Cotabato City, who was shot in the head near her home around 4:20 p.m. by motorcycle-riding killers, city police chief Senior Superintendent Rolly Octavio said.

Authorities are hoping to find clues from closed circuit television footage because of a lack of witnesses.

In Midsayap, a motorcycle-riding duo was also responsible for shooting dead Bernard Viloan, southwest district supervisor of the Department of Education, in Barangay Rangapan around 12:45 p.m.
