MANILA, Philippines — The protests against the visit of U.S. President Donald Trump to the country for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations summit ended peacefully Tuesday, November 14, as activists opted to march to Mendiola for their “closing” rally.

A protest organizer said only the contingent from the Southern Tagalog region and the youth sector attempted to march to the Philippine International Convention Center, the venue of meetings related to the summit.

But he acknowledged that only a small group of youth activists managed to slip through the tight security for a brief protest.

Clashes between police and protesters marked the anti-Trump rallies since the weekend, with scores hurt during the most intense confrontation on Taft Avenue on Monday, November 13.
