With only one week to go before her highly-anticipated Manila concert, the American pop icon is already enjoying the Asian leg of her ongoing “Piece of Me” tour that kicked off in Tokyo, Japan last Saturday, June 3.

Britney, who will also perform in Seoul, Taipei, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Singapore, is obviously taking this particular tour very seriously as she (or at least someone close to her) has addressed the lip synching issue that has hounded her and other pop stars who rose to fame during the 1990s. Many artists from that period onwards have relied on an audio processor technology called Auto Tune designed for vocal pitch correction during recordings.

A video of Britney’s unedited recording of her 2004 smash “Toxic” recently surfaced this week on YouTube. To the pleasant surprise of many, Britney’s recording of the song before it was subjected to the Auto Tune treatment sounded surprisingly amazing and was hardly discernible from the released version that became her fourth number one hit in the United Kingdom.

Here’s a side-by-side comparison:

Britney’s singing is not the only thing that will give Manila fans their money’s worth when she performs at the Mall of Asia Arena come June 15.

The set list of her Tokyo and Osaka concerts have already leaked online and Britney’s show consists of seven acts and 20 songs including, of course, her best known hits like “Baby, One More Time,” “Oops I Did It Again,” “I’m a Slave 4 U,” “Work Bitch,” “Womanizer” and the newer “Slumber Party.”

One expected highlight is her performance of the sexy ballad “Everytime,” one of the rare moments she slows things down and descends to the stage in an angelic production.

Tickets for Britney’s MOA Arena concert are nearly sold out, with several sections in the VIP, Patron, Lower Box and General Admission areas no longer available.

Smart Communications, through Smart Music Live, are giving fans a chance to watch the concert for free.
