Not every singer gets a chance to share the stage with his musical hero. Bugoy Drilon is one of the lucky ones.

Bugoy has been known for his cover of “One Day,” reggae sensation Matisyahu’s signature song, which he has been performing live on several occasions for many months now.

His acoustic rendition of the song, which he performed at the Wish 107.5 bus, has generated over 2.2 million views on YouTube alone since it was posted last April. It got Matisyahu’s attention, and the latter invited him to perform with him in one of his concerts.

It came to fruition Friday night in a Matiyashu concert in Los Angeles, which the former canteen janitor and “Pinoy Dream Academy” alumnus called “one of the best experiences” that have happened in his life.

“One Day” is an inspiring, soaring tune that Matisyahu described in an interview with Spinner as “an anthem of hope with a big beat, the kind of song that makes you bob your head and open your heart at the same time.”

In addition to a video of his performance with Matisyahu, Bugoy also posted a selfie photo of him together with the 38-year-old Jewish-American artist.

Later this year, Bugoy will have another opportunity to perform with Matisyahu as the latter is scheduled to perform at the SM North EDSA Skydome on September 23 as part of his “Undercurrent” tour.

The concert is presented by DMC Entertainment Production Management. Tickets now available at SM Tickets outlets and through www.smtickets.com.
