The hosts of ESPN5's 'SportsCenter Philippines': Magoo Marjon, Lia Cruz, Amanda Fernandez and Aaron Atayde.

About two months after TV5 officially launched ESPN5, its long term collaboration with the US-based sports channel dubbed as “The Worldwide Leader in Sports,” the network will debut the Philippine edition of “SportsCenter.”

Premiering on December 17 after the PBA games and airing daily nightly after the games or prime time sports programs, the iconic sports news and highlights show will be a 30-minute daily program produced live and exclusive each day by ESPN5 from the TV5 studios in Manila.

“We are excited to bring the iconic SportsCenter brand to the Filipino audience. As a die-hard viewer of this show, I truly believe that it is the definitive sports program on television. We at TV5 are honoured to be bringing ‘SportsCenter Philippines’ to you as this is truly a milestone for local TV,” declared TV5 president Vincent “Chot” Reyes.

“True to the DNA of SportsCenter, it is going to be a fun, dynamic and fast-paced show that will cover a wide range of sports and it reflects our focus on serving Filipino sports fans through the premier combination of local and global sports resources, expertise and coverage,” added ESPN head for Southeast Asia Joyee Biwas.

Hosted by a rotating roster of some of the Philippines most popular sportscasters including Aaron Atayde, Lia Cruz, Magoo Marjon and Amanda Fernandez, “SportsCenter Philippines” will feature the latest sports news and developments from the Philippines and around the world, with daily content contribution from SportsCenter US.

Covering the latest in sports news, highlights and updates in its signature fast-paced format, “SportsCenter Philippines” will concentrate on the biggest stories of the day and the sports that matter most to Filipino fans, including the PBA, the NBA, American football, volleyball and more.

The four hosts should be familiar to Filipino viewers in general and sports fans in particular. There’s seasoned host and broadcaster Lia Cruz who brings over a decade of experience covering major sporting events from around the world including NBA, FIBA and the Olympics.

Magoo Marjon is one of the most recognized voices when it comes to PBA commentary. With over 15 years of broadcast experience, Magoo is currently a mainstay in TV5’s coverage of both the PBA and FIBA tournaments as play-by-play anchor.

Aaron Atayde is well-known to sports fans as one of the most-recognized voices on Philippine radio, having built an 11-year career doing play by play commentary for college basketball and host of Sports5’s “Sports 360.”

Amanda Fernandez is a TV Host, football club manager and fitness facility owner. Her knowledge of fitness and lifestyle should further complement the sporting expertise of the rest of the group.
