“Ganito na raw ang batian ng get well soon sa Omicron.”

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto made this remark after someone who is also infected with COVID-19 greeted him in a private message.

Sotto shared a screenshot of their exchange on Facebook’s MyDay feature on Sunday, January 16.

In the image, someone offered Sotto well wishes as he battles COVID-19. Sotto then thanked the sender for the message.

However, the person suddenly quipped:

“Finally, nakisama ka na rin. Now IN ka na. Get well soon.”

Sotto rode along the joke and wrote: “Haha thanks sir.”

The city official uploaded the screenshot and added the text: “Ganito na raw ang batian ng get well soon sa Omicron.”

Sotto announced on social media last Friday, January 15 that he had tested positive for COVID-19.

The mayor assured his constituents that he will continue to work during his isolation period.

“Hi everyone, bad news, I’ve tested positive for COVID-19. I have sore throat, fever, and body aches, but please don’t worry!”  Sotto said.

“I’ll continue to work remotely while in isolation for the next seven days,” he added.

Sotto then recalled his previous experience of being exposed to a COVID patient last year.

He urged everyone to be responsible, stay safe and strengthen their immune systems.

“Naka-ilang close call ako sa Delta (gaya nung sa driver ko mismo) pero di ako nahawaan. Matindi talaga ang pagkalat ng Omicron– sabi nga ng ibang eksperto, LAHAT TAYO ay mae-expose sa variant na ito,” Sotto said.

“Kaya lagi po tayong mag-iingat, palakasin natin ang ating mga resistensya, at maging responsable – kung may sintomas wag na munang lumabas,” he added.

In May 2021, Sotto shared a heartfelt tribute to his longtime driver who succumbed to COVID-19.

“Isang mabuting asawa, ama, at kaibigan. Mahal na mahal siya ng mga tao. Mami-miss ka namin, Kuya Vener. Mahal ka namin,” the young politician said in a previous post.
