A rental place in Clark, Pampanga earned flak after posting a checkout inspection video that social media users said nitpicked the condition of its unit after a one-day stay.
Casa Caramel Staycation posted a video featuring its host checking out its unit after it was rented for a day by two guests.
The host showed the condition of the unit and repeatedly expressed her disappointment that unit smelled like food. She also chided them for supposedly leaving burn marks on the pan.
The host likewise made a comment about its contraceptives in the bathroom being used.
“Host life update. May day tour guests kami today at mukhang napasarap ang bonding at pagluluto nila,” the Airbnb host said in a post on Monday, June 29.
“Bonus discovery? Finally, may bumili na rin ng Trust sa honesty pantry,” it added, referring to a type of contraceptive.
“Every check-out has a different story, at ito ang isa sa mga nakakatawang moments ng pagiging host,” the host said.
Backlash
The content did not amuse some Filipinos, who warned others to avoid renting the place if they do not want to be part of its future content.
The rental was called out by online users for its standards in cleanliness, believing the unit was not left in a horrible condition.

ATE KO, ‘WAG NA LANG KAYO MAGPA-RENT KUNG SA PAGLILINIS DIN AY NAKAASA SA MGA GUEST NIYO, P*NY*TA,” said another user.
Daming reklamo,” wrote a different Pinoy.
Magsara na kayo, Casa Carmel,” another user commented.
“LOL. No rangehood and poor ventilation yet still allow guests to cook tapos magre-reklamo sa amoy. Kaya nga nag-staycation para mag-relax, tapos paglilinis niyo? ‘Yung review nila parang review dapat ng new renter checking the place pagdating, hindi ng owner,” said another Pinoy.
A Filipino who has the same business also shared their two cents on the matter.
“LOL, we’re managing [three] Airbnbs and every checkout ng guests, kami mismo maglilinis. Like, dude, we don’t require then to clean kasi kasama naman sa bayad nila ‘yun. Sana ‘di na lang kayo nag-Airbnb business if ayaw niyo pala maglinis,” the user said.
Airbnb policies
It is common courtesy to practice CLAYGO or “Clean As You Go” in rental places such as Airbnbs.
Ground rules listed on the website of Airbnb the company notes that guests are expected to treat the host’s home like their own.
“Guests should not leave the listing in a state that requires excessive or deep cleaning (moldy dishes, soiled carpets, stains from pets, etc.),” it said.
Other Airbnbs charge a “cleaning fee” to their guests. This includes cleaning and preparing the space for the next occupant, such as buying stock items and having the bedsheets and other fabrics laundered.
Guests are not expected to perform deep cleaning, such as vacuuming and mopping, but are expected to leave the unit in a basic state of tidiness.
