The Baguio City Jail Female Dormitory turned a viral moment into an opportunity to promote products made by Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL).
On July 24, the facility shared an inquiry it received from a person who was looking for accommodation in the City of Pines.
“Hello, may available units pa po?” the person asked in Messenger.
“Ma’am, kulungan ng mga babae po dito,” the facility responded with a grinning emoji.
“Ay [sorry] po,” the person responded, accompanied by a loudly crying emoji.
The exchange was shared by the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) on Facebook, where it garnered 70,000 laughing reactions, 6,300 shares and over 960 comments.=
“WEEKEND PLANS SECURED,” it wrote in jest.
“Ayuuun, staycation… bwelooo.
The Baguio City Jail Female Dormitory’s Facebook page also responded to the post.
It featured the products in the comments section of its post.
“Suportahan po natin sila,” the facility said in another post, sharing a photo of the female PDLs.
Last May, the BJMP gave online users a tour of some its jail facilities nationwide, showcasing clean sleeping quarters, a reading corner, chilled coffee beverages and artworks, including paintings.
