Fire and Ice Entertainment CEO Liza Diño-Seguerra had an appeal to those recording and sharing full-length videos of The Sessionistas‘ concert online.
The Sessionistas, a group composed of Liza’s husband Ice Seguerra, Nyoy Volante, Juris Fernandez, Kean Cipriano, Sitti Navarro and Princess Velasco, held a concert on August 22 at The Theater at Solaire.
Called “Sessionistas: The Playlist,” the concert featured the artists performing timeless OPM tunes and other nostalgic songs, including “Toxic,” “Truly Madly Deeply,” “A Thousand Miles” and “In The End,” among others.
Liza addressed those uploading videos of full-length videos of the concert online, saying she found the act “disturbing.”
“When you buy a ticket to a concert, you are buying the right to watch the show. You are not buying the right to record the entire concert, upload full performances to your YouTube page, and redistribute someone else’s copyrighted work as if it were your own content,” she wrote on Facebook on Monday, August 24.
“That is not simply ‘sharing the experience.’ When you upload full songs, entire segments, or worse, practically the whole concert, you are reproducing and distributing material that belongs to the artists, composers, publishers, producers, and rights holders who created and paid for that show,” Liza added.
“Ang hirap intindihin kung saan nanggagaling ‘yung entitlement na dahil nakabili ka ng ticket, pwede mo nang i-upload ang buong concert online. Please understand: a ticket is not a license to pirate the show,” she continued.
Liza said that while they are “grateful” that people share clips and photos from the concert, she stressed that there is a “very clear difference between celebrating a performance and republishing the performance itself.”
“For pages currently uploading full-length material from our concerts: please take them down,” she said, referring to uploaders.
“We will be protecting the rights of our artists and our productions, and we will take the necessary steps against unauthorized uploads when needed. Support artists by sharing the experience. Please don’t steal the work,” Liza continued.
The concert was mounted by Fire and Ice Entertainment, the events company founded by Liza and Ice.
