A bakery store took notice of an artist’s creation on its paper bag, turning it into a canvas that showcases Filipino culture.
Threads user Nins, who describes herself as an “architect and creative gal,” expressed elation after Balai Pandesal featured her artwork of their paper bag on their Facebook page.
“A beautiful tribute to the Filipino spirit. Celebrating the hard work and heritage we champion at Balai Pandesal—the Home of the Breadwinners,” the bakery wrote on Wednesday, June 3, sharing pictures of her artwork.
“Thank you so much, @ninaynotfound on Threads, for beautifully capturing our story and honoring the resilience of the Filipino breadwinner through your art!” it added.
The post reached Nins, who shared a screengrab of the feature on Threads.
“Not me getting noticed by the very paper bag I drew on. Salamat po,” she said with a crying emoji.

Some Threads users congratulated her for the recognition..
“Ang ganda! Hope they commission you para maging official packaging!!” an online user wrote.
“‘Wag kang papayag na i-print nila ‘yan [nang] ‘di ka binabayaran,” a different Thread user said.
“OMG, akala ko ito ‘yung official paper bag nila,” another Pinoy wrote.
On May 30, Nins shared photos of her turning the bakery’s paper bag into a canvas and filling it with her artwork.
“Eating pandesal and suddenly seeing Balai Pandesal’s paper bag as a potential canvas. So syempre, dinrawingan natin,” she previously wrote.
“To make the illustration tell a bit of a story, ginawa ko inspiration ‘yung old panaderos who would carry baskets of freshly baked pandesal and sell it around town. Felt like a fitting little scene for something centered around pandesal, ‘di ba?” Nins added.
