What started as a post-flood cleanup turned into an unexpected viral moment after a Davao City resident shared his mother’s collection of assorted items.
Facebook user Kiko Echavez Silao on July 25 posted photos of items they found in their home while cleaning up after the floods.
Several areas in Davao City recently experienced severe flooding due to continuous heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon (habagat).
One resident described it as the worst flooding they had experienced since 2019.
Silao was among the residents who had to clean up their flood-hit home following the incident.
“Kung hindi pa kami binaha dito, ‘di ko pa [malalaman], weird collector si mama,” he wrote.
The collection featured assorted items such as used noodle cups, food trays, shells, old soft drink bottles, a biscuit tin can and old coins from the 1970s.
Silao also shared his mother’s “normal collection,” which consisted of different pairs of sandals.
“Aside sa sapatos ni lotus feet, ito ang iba niyang babies,” he wrote.
In another post, Silao said his mother asked him why he was taking photos of her items.
Last year, it was reported that Filipinos were among the biggest hoarders in Asia.
