Travelers looking for a stay that highlights Cebuano culture and local craftsmanship can expect a new hospitality destination in Mactan, with 550 guestrooms, locally inspired dining, wellness facilities and spaces for events.
Located in Mactan Newtown, the newly opened hotel is about 15 minutes from Mactan-Cebu International Airport and directly across from Mactan Expo, the area’s largest convention facility.
The property is Mercure Mactan Cebu, marking the Mercure brand’s debut in the Philippines.
Cebu-inspired interiors
Guests are welcomed by a geometric mural of Lapu-Lapu, the revered local hero whose legacy is closely associated with Mactan.
The hotel’s interiors incorporate locally inspired details, curated artwork and contemporary interpretations of Filipino culture.
Its 550 guestrooms and suites include Standard Rooms, Privilege Rooms and a Presidential Suite, with vibrant accents and design elements inspired by Cebu.
Filipino and Cebuano flavors
At Pulô, guests can expect Filipino and Cebuano cuisine with an ocean-to-table approach. The restaurant’s interiors draw inspiration from solihiya weaving, abaca craftsmanship and the Sinulog Festival.
Lingaw Pool Bar offers cocktails, local brews and light bites, while Zabana Bar and Lounge provides a setting for evening drinks, with handcrafted Cebu guitars highlighting the island’s musical heritage.
Wellness and leisure
The hotel has a fitness center, separate steam and sauna facilities, spa treatments, a Garden Lounge and a swimming pool.
Guests also have exclusive access to Mactan Newtown Beach, which includes a Ceremony Garden for intimate occasions and a Glass Pavilion overlooking the sea for larger celebrations and weddings.
For meetings and events
The property has meeting rooms and flexible event spaces that can accommodate gatherings of 30 to 180 guests.
Its location opposite Mactan Expo also makes it a convenient base for delegates attending conventions and exhibitions. The convention facility has a 3,000-seat theater.
Mercure Mactan Cebu General Manager Gwen De La Cruz said the property hopes to give guests an experience rooted in Cebuano hospitality.
“At Mercure Mactan Cebu, we invite guests to experience more than just a destination. We invite them to feel Cebu,” she added.
“What truly defines Cebu is its people. Hospitality is innate and embedded in the Cebuano lineage, every stay is shaped by genuine warmth and connection. We want every guest to feel that this is a place they can return to, time and time again, because Cebu always feels like home.”
The opening marks Mercure’s entry into the Philippine market. The brand has more than 1,000 hotels worldwide and follows a “glocal” approach that emphasizes locally inspired experiences.
