BACOLOR, Pampanga – Two suspected members of a robbery-holdup gang were killed after a brief exchange of gunfire with lawmen at Barangay San Vicente in this town early Tuesday afternoon.

The suspects have so far remained unidentified but the police are exerting efforts to establish their identities.

Senior Supt. Joel Consulta, Director of the Pampanga Provincial Police Office (PPO), said the suspects, who were acting suspiciously when spotted by residents in the community, were sighted along Jose Abad Santos Avenue (JASA) on board an unlicensed motorcycle.

Consulta said the tandem riding suspects were about to pull off another caper when tracked down by alert policemen in nearby Guagua, Pampanga.

When the suspects reached Bacolor town, Consulta said, the police tried to flag them but they were met by a volley of gunfire instead. An exchange of gunfire ensued, leading to the death of the suspects on the spot.

Police recovered handguns, including a caliber .45 pistol and .38 revolver, aside from the motorcycle used by the suspects.

The lawmen brought the suspects to a nearby hospital but they were declared already dead by attending physicians.
