MANILA, Philippines – Restrictions will be imposed on flights in Metro Manila and nearby provinces from November 9 as part of security measures for the 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations summit, the Department of Interior and Local Government said.
DILG officer-in-charge Catalino Cuy, who chairs the Committee on Security, Peace and Order, Emergency Preparedness and Response for the summit, said no-fly zones will be enforced over selected areas between November 9 and 15.
These are:
Clarkfield Special Economic and Freeport Zone in Pampanga
- November 9-14 (6 a.m.-10 p.m.)
- November 15 (4 a.m.-5 p.m.)
All general aviation flights within 10,000 feet altitude and 40 nautical miles radius
Rizal Park, Manila
- November 12-15 (6 a.m. To 5 p.m.)
All aircraft operations within 10,000 feet altitude and four nautical miles radius
Manila
- November 12 (6 a.m.-11 p.m.)
- November 13-14 (6 a.m.-10 p.m.)
- November 15 (4 a.m.-5 p.m.)
All general aircrafts with very high frequency omni-directional range within 10,000 feet altitude and 40 nautical miles
Drone operations will also be banned within 40 nautical miles of Clark and Rizal Park from November 9-17.
Sangley Airport in Cavite, Plaridel Airport in Bulacan, and Subic International Airport in Olongapo will be closed to civilian aircraft operations from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on November 9 to 15.
At the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, only takeoffs will be allowed on Runway 13, and landings on Runway 31, from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. from November 12 to 15.
Cuy asked “all our kababayans and the business community who will be affected by the restrictions, please bear with us in the next few days.”
