Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. was introduced as “soon to be vice president” at the Professional Regulation Commission’s oath-taking ceremony for dentists and not everyone was smiling.
Dr. Monique Ravago shared on Twitter that Marcos, who failed his vice-presidential bid in 2016, has been the guest of honor and speaker of the Professional Regulatory Board of Dentistry for the past three years.
We raised our left fists as a sign of protest this afternoon
(That’s our dean right there protesting with us)

Ravago provided Interaksyon with a copy of Marcos’ speech where he thanked the Professional Board of Dentistry for being invited again to the event that “heralds joy and promise both to the inductees and to the entire Philippine dental profession.”
The former Ilocos Norte governor presented the challenge of improving the country’s state of oral health to the future dental practitioners.
“The professional practice of our new dental professionals will be tough yet exciting from its incipiency,” Marcos said.
“The country’s state of oral health remains a continuing challenge, the improvement of which will surely enjoy a big boost courtesy of an energetic batch of budding practitioners,” he added.

Jio Vaughn shared his dismay on Twitter that a dictator’s son was the guest speaker.
“Sobrang nakakahiya. I’m glad to know that I wasn’t alone when I refused to stand up and clap my hands and even acknowledge his presence. I wouldn’t stand for this trash,” Vaughn wrote.
One user questioned the way Marcos was introduced as the future vice president of the country when he could have been given other titles.
“Put aside all the other facts about him, they didn’t choose “Former Ilocos Norte Governor”, “Former Senator”, etc. As a government agency, they shamelessly pushed such a presumptuous narrative,” Twitter user @reffysf wrote.
