You have seen these posts and memes time and again, the classic empty wallet shortly after payday.
With the recent hikes in prices of basic goods, Filipinos can’t help but spend more even if they wish to save.
A Facebook user made a humorous short video about it, where he tries to resuscitate his empty wallet twice, and then finally accepting that it has died.
Some memes also pointed to the oft-cited trait of smiling despite hardships.
Others relate the habit of loaning from relatives just to make ends meet.
In September, the Philippine Statistics Authority recorded that the inflation rate at national level peaked at 6.7 percent, the highest in almost 10 years. This means, the budgets of the average working Filipino is becoming more and more of a challenge to adjust.
The stress associated with the combination of deadlines and financial troubles may cause headaches—a phenomenon that the makers of Saridon Triple Action (Paracetamol/Propyphenazone/Caffeine) sought to address.
Manage spending habits
The difficult economic situation notwithstanding, we also have bad spending habits that add to our financial headaches.
Young working Filipinos, particularly millennials, may tend to spend most of their hard-earned money during payday as a form of reward.
Some commentators attribute this to our lack of awareness on personal finance.
“You might say, ‘Yeah, I only live once so I’ve got to live my life to the fullest‘ then you go party every weekends, do impulsive shopping, travel here and there, buy unnecessary things for short term pleasure…then go broke in the future,” Power Pinoys wrote.
This lifestyle also leaves one living the “petsa de peligro” or the period of trying to staying afloat despite the meager amount left from the last pay check.
One writer advised three simple steps to help people, particularly those from the younger generation, on how to save and spend money wisely.
- Arrange an automatic debt payment with a bank. This means automatic deduction of your monthly dues from your bank account.
- Limit spending on “fun” or “reward” experiences. Choose more affordable meals or less fancy vacation trips until you manage your finances.
- Rid yourself of debts as soon as possible. Try not to stack one debt on top of another.
For some, being broke or burdened with debt means working overtime, which may help in adding some extra to their regular incomes while getting more work done. Taking on a side job—colloquially called a racket—may also be an option for some whose companies do not have strict rules against moonlighting.
Unfortunately, however, more work and added responsibilities may cause stress or tension, which in turn can trigger real headaches. Popping the usual pain relievers would be an easy enough way to make the pain fade away.
At times though, the headache, especially when caused by continuing stress and stressors, persists. For this, there is quick and effective headache relief offered by Saridon.
Saridon is a tablet and headache medicine that has the Triple Action Formula of paracetamol, propyphenazone and caffeine. Chances are, similar drugs that try to fight headaches have only one or two of Saridon’s three components.
