The University of the Philippines Psychosocial Services (UPD PsycServ) gave advice on how to rest amid the still ongoing COVID-19 pandemic following the World Mental Health Day on October 10.

Its official page also released infographics on October 27 where it stressed the importance of rest.

In the infographics, the group cited the loss of “transitions” between work and rest as the main reason why some struggle to take a break.

It also stated that exhaustion and overthinking are factors for the inability to rest well.

The post had since garnered 4,300 shares and earned more than 1,700 reactions on the platform.

The UPD PsycServ then gave general tips on how to take of oneself amid the busy life.

  • Appreciate and be grateful for the opportunity and space to rest.

It also invited the public to attend its events for the UP Mental Health Month 2021 with the theme “Enhanced Virtual Yakap: Promoting Well-being in Trying Times.”

The World Mental Health Day is an annual campaign of the World Health Organization to raise awareness on mental health issues in the world.

“The overall objective of World Mental Health Day is to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health,” WHO said on its website.

“The Day provides an opportunity for all stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about their work, and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide,” it added.

Meanwhile, the country celebrates National Mental Health Week every second week of Octobe based on Proclamation No. 452, dated Aug. 25, 1994, signed by then-President Fidel Ramos
