A meteorologist gave tips to Filipinos who will vote in the 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections amid the state weather bureau’s forecast for thunderstorms in the Greater Manila Area.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday, October 30 reported that as of 10 a.m., thunderstorms are “less likely” to develop in the following within the next 12 hours:
- Metro Manila (Manila, Caloocan, Las Piñas, Makati, Malabon, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Parañaque, Pasay, Pasig, Pateros, Quezon City, San Juan, Taguig, Valenzuela)
- Bulacan
- Rizal
- Laguna
- Cavite
ABS-CBN resident meteorologist Ariel Rojas advised voters in these areas to prepare for hot weather.
He suggested Filipinos consider the following before going to their respective voting precincts:
- Wear comfortable clothes
- Bring an umbrella and fan
- Drink water frequently
In its daily weather advisory for October 30, PAGASA said the northeast monsoon (amihan) is affecting the Northern and Central Luzon.
There is also a Low Pressure Area (LPA) that was estimated at 995 kilometers east of Visayas as of 4 a.m.
Meanwhile, the Commission on Elections announced that the elections commenced in 201,836 voting precincts nationwide this morning, with voting hours open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. today.
Reports said there are 672,432 seats available in the electoral race, with more than 1.41 million people filing their candidacies.
