Events host and former radio personality Sam YG proposed that Filipinos be given a “tax break,” as issues of alleged corruption in flood control projects hound the country.
On Tuesday, September 2, the former “Boys Night Out” radio host took to Instagram to share his thoughts on “tax relief” amid the reported lavish lifestyles of some contractors and their families, including the Discayas and singer-vlogger Claudine Co.

The Discayas, particularly Sarah and Curlee Discaya, previously claimed to own nearly 40 luxury SUVs and rare imported cars. Claudine, meanwhile, was criticized for wearing designer outfits and publicly posting their prices, among other displays of wealth.
The Discaya-owned construction firms were included in President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.‘s list of contractors who received the highest number of flood control projects in the country.
Sarah ran for mayor of Pasig in the 2025 midterm elections but failed in her bid.
Claudine, on the other hand, is the daughter of a construction firm owner whose company was also among those tagged by Marcos.

The president previously stated that many flood control projects carried out by government-funded contractors lack key details.
The exposé on the lavish lifestyles of some of these contractors and their family members prompted Filipinos, including celebrities, to speak out against the alleged corruption in the flood control projects.

Among those speaking out is Sam, who proposed that the public refrain from paying taxes to the government until it “gets its act together.”
“More than drowning in floods, we are drowning in CORRUPTION. When the law no longer protects us from the corrupt but PROTECTS the CORRUPT from us, we are in deep trouble. Time to wake up. Nothing changes if nothing changes,” he wrote.
“Can we also stop paying taxes till the government gets its act together? Imagine… we’ve been paying for all the luxury cars, trips, bags, etc. of these corrupt people all along. Baka pwedeng tax break muna?” Sam asked.
“Sana ‘di puro hearing. Sana may mangyari,” the events host said with a hot face emoji.
Congress has been conducting investigations in both the lower and upper houses regarding the alleged anomalies involving certain flood control projects in the country.
