Filipinos were urged by a fast food chain to stay vigilant and verify links sent to them following claims that it was giving away gift cards as part of its supposed anniversary celebration.
Jollibee on Tuesday, August 4, warned customers to be wary of
“fake Jollibee promotions circulating online,” saying they should only rely on its official channels for legitimate announcements.
“For legitimate giveaways and announcements, always refer to our official Jollibee channels and never share sensitive information through unofficial links. Stay vigilant and always verify before you click,” it said in a Facebook post.
“#JolliFAM, let’s keep our community safe. By looking out for one another and sharing only verified information, we can help prevent scams and make online spaces more joyful for everyone,” the fast food chain’s post read.
The advisory came after some Filipinos encountered a website they could win a P6,000 gift card by answering a questionnaire.
The website claims the giveaway is part of Jollibee’s “48th anniversary gift” to customers.
It also displays supposed comments from Filipinos who allegedly received a gift card.
However, the link does not come from Jollibee’s official website, which is www.jollibee.com.ph. Instead, it redirects users to https://jollibee48yearprize.com.
A check of the fast food chain’s website does not show any promotion offering P6,000 gift card or any anniversary giveaway matching the claims in the circulating link.
Jollibee is one of the Philippines’ largest fast food chains, known for serving American-style fast food alongside Filipino favorites.
Among its bestsellers are the Yumburger, the Jolly Spaghetti and the Chickenjoy.
