MANILA, Philippines — More than two months after clashes broke out between extremist gunmen and government forces in Marawi City, fighting continues to rage in the capital of Lanao del Sur with no certainty of when it will end.
The continuing violence prompted Congress to extend martial law, which President Rodrigo Duterte declared for 60 days over Mindanao on May 23, until the end of the year.
