ILIGAN CITY – Former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo visited at the weekend the Marawi City evacuees staying at the National School of Fisheries in Brgy. Buru-un and in Sta. Elena Evacuation, both in Iligan City, to distribute hygiene packs to the families staying there.

She was accompanied by Iligan City Mayor Celso Regencia and Vice Mayor Jemar Vera Cruz.

Iligan City has five evacuation centers sheltering more than 800 families from Marawi City. There are also 14,000 families living with relatives in Iligan.

The Pampanga lawmaker traces her roots to Iligan City as her maternal grandparents lived in the city in the 1950s. The former President also lived in her family’s ancestral house in Iligan during her childhood.
