Alleged Region 12 drug ring members with suspected links to extremists fall

COTABATO CITY, Philippines –Anti-narcotics agents arrested two alleged members of the Region 12 drug syndicate known as “El Patron,” which also is purportedly liked to the extremist Ansar Al–Khalifa Philippines.

The operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency regional office and local police seized from Faroon and Alhotaibby Lumatao an estimated P400,000 worth of crystal meth, or “shabu,” grenades, a bank passbook, and a “green book” allegedly listing other members of the syndicate.

The two were captured during the raid in Barangay Kanalo, Maasim, Sarangani.

El Patron allegedly counts politicians and businessmen among its members and is purportedly one of the syndicates that also operate out of the New Bilibid Prison.
