MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs said it had seized more than half a billion pesos’ worth of fake products, reportedly from China, from a Pasay City warehouse.

The value of the hundreds of boxes of counterfeit “branded” shoes and generic watches and other products found in Warehouse 142 on Cuneta Avenue was estimated to be P521.93 million, Deputy Commissioner Ricardo Quinto of the Intelligence Group said in a statement.

The warehouse administrator, Lita Liao, said the 10 units in which the contraband was found had been leased to persons he identified only as Mr. Ang, Mr. Gee, and Mr. Ty, which the BOC said were not their real names. They will nevertheless be charged with violating Section 118 (f) of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act in relation to Republic Act 8293, or the Intellectual Property Code.
