“Complete fakery.”
This was what former chief justice Maria Lourdes Sereno said in response to incidences of a page named “FHM International” using her name and fake signature to solicit support or fees.
The lawyer on Tuesday revealed that she has been receiving messages from social media followers alerting her about the fake entity.
“I do not know the said entity nor am I soliciting any fee or support from any of my FB [Facebook] or IG [Instagram] followers,” Sereno said in a Facebook post on January 9.
“THESE MESSAGES CONSTITUTE FINANCIAL FRAUD AND THEIR USE OF MY NAME IS A COMPLETE FAKERY,” she added.
Financial fraud happens when someone takes money from another person through deception or criminal activity.
“Please protect yourselves from any form of cyber-scam. Thank you and take care, everyone!” the former chief magistrate said.
There is no entity called “FHM International,” although FHM is widely associated with a men’s magazine.
In 2022, Sereno also warned the public against a fake document of a supposed approval of a fund release using her name.

Sereno was ousted from the Supreme Court in 2018 following a quo warranto petition which claimed that she never lawfully held office due to lack of integrity for failing to file required financial documents.
Lawmakers previously said that the move “sets a dangerous precedent that transgresses the exclusive powers of the legislative branch to initiate, try and decide all cases of impeachment.”
Sereno, being a chief justice, was only supposed to be removed via impeachment trial.
She previously raised alarm over former president Rodrigo Duterte‘s bloody anti-narcotics campaign.
