A clip of a student being interviewed by a reporter on television during the first day of face-to-face classes gained traction on social media.

Twitter users on Monday shared clips of ABS-CBN reporter Jose Carretero interviewing a female student outside the Pinagbuhatan Elementary School in Pasig City before the start of classes.

The student was among those who arrived early at the school on Monday morning.

“Kausapin natin ang ilang mga estudyante dito na maagang pumunta,” Carretero said.

He then approached one of the elementary students nearby.

“Ate, kamusta, excited ka na ba pumasok? Ano oras dapat ang schedule mo?” Carretero asked her.

“Nine,” the female student answered.

“So bakit andito ka nang ganoong kaaga, anong oras ka pumunta dito?” Carretero asked.

“Six,” the student replied.

“Six o’ clock. So ano ang nararamdaman mo na magfa-face-to-face classes na?” Carretero said.

“Wala,” she responded.

“Masaya ka ba?”

She nodded before answering. “Opo.”

“Okay, masaya na parang nalulungkot si ate,” Carretero said, while slighty laughing.

In the clip, the elementary student interviewee can be seen looking at the reporter with what appeared to be an unamused expression.

At least three Twitter users who were amused by the interview shared a video of it on the microblogging platform.

“Ate is me on the first day of anything,” an account said, pertaining to the student’s unamused expression throughout the interview.

The tweet has earned a whopping number of 33,900 likes, over 7,000 retweets and more than 3,500 quote tweets so far.

A shorter version of the clip was also uploaded by another Twitter account.

“MOOD SI ATE HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA,” the account reacted with a loudly-crying-face emoji.

“Oh look, a Monday mood,” historian Kristoffer Pasion commented as he shared the clip.

Sskait Comics also recreated the moment in an animated video clip featuring his illustrations. It was edited with the original audio from the interview.

“First day ni ate bebe gurl balik face to face. Monday energy mood,” its Twitter account wrote with a laughing-with-tears emoji.

The majority of students across the country attended schools for their first in-person classes after two years.

The full implementation of face-to-face classes is slated for November, but for now, the mode of learning combines in-person and distance learning.

According to Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte, the COVID-19 pandemic should no longer be a reason not to implement in-person classes.

“There are no excuses. Hindi na po natin kaya na muling maantala pa ang pag-aaral ng mga kabataang Pilipino,” she was quoted as saying.

“Kailangan na po natin silang maibalik sa in-person learning dahil sa in-person learning, makakakuha ng makahulugan, sapat o wasto, at dekalidad na edukasyon na kailangan nila para sa kalinangan ng kanilang pag-iisip sa pagtatag ng malakas na bansa,” Duterte added.
