A modern jeepney driver in Bacolod carried his passengers to safety instead of letting them wade through floodwaters when he dropped them off at a shopping mall on Tuesday, October 14.
A local radio station shared a video showing the driver carrying passengers on his back from the jeepney to the drop-off area at SM City Bacolod, as floodwaters reached nearly knee-deep.
The driver was also seen helping a passenger board the jeepney by holding her hand and supporting her as she stepped inside.
Reports said the conductor was also assisting passengers inside the vehicle.

Another angle of the incident was later shared on Facebook.
Pictures and clips of the flooding incident were also shared on the social networking platform.
Reports indicate that more than three hours of nonstop rain from thunderstorms last Tuesday caused flooding in Bacolod City’s reclamation area and in front of SM City Bacolod.
Some public transport vehicles were forced to take alternative routes.
On Wednesday, October 16, Bacolod City Mayor Greg Gasataya inspected the flood-affected areas to identify the underlying causes and ensure swift action on solutions.
He also mentioned that the city government is developing a community-based flood early warning system to enhance disaster preparedness and resilience.
