Spider-Man didn’t just swing onto the big screen, he took over a mall in Naga City.

SM City Naga transformed into a real-life Spider-Verse as multiple Spider-Man characters roamed the mall, greeting visitors, posing for photos and adding superhero excitement to the “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” celebration.

Videos shared by the mall and fans showed Spider-Man characters roaming around the venue, welcoming moviegoers near the escalators and making appearances at the cinema area.

One of the clips that caught attention online showed Spider-Men joining the viral dance craze “Oooh Lala Baby” by Baby Dolls at the mall entrance and in front of the cinemas, with the characters showing off playful moves far from the usual serious superhero image.

Other clips showed the web-slinging heroes interacting with mallgoers, turning a typical movie day into a full-blown fan celebration.

The scenes quickly spread online, with many Filipinos amused by the uniquely energetic way fans celebrated the superhero.

“THE PHILIPPINES IS A SPIDEY COUNTRY,” one X user wrote.

“HAPPY SPIDER-MAN DAY FROM THE SPIDEY NATION OF THE PHILIPPINES,” an online user wrote.

“[Ito] po ba yung spiderverse na tinutukoy niyo? an X user asked.

Another X user asked, “How do I explain this to non-Filipinos?” while others highlighted the country’s over-the-top mall event culture.

“Mall events in the Philippines are something else,” another commenter said.

Some even joked about the playful behavior of the characters, with one X user saying, “Suddenly all of the spidermen are having Deadpool’s personality?”

The viral SM City Naga celebration came amid a nationwide wave of Spider-Man excitement following the release of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.”

Before the film arrived in theaters, Spider-Man-themed trains on LRT-1 and LRT-2 already captured commuters’ attention as part of the movie’s promotional campaign.

The superhero film then delivered a record-breaking opening day performance in the Philippines, earning P95,930,965 on its first day of release. The figure made “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” the biggest opening-day gross for a Sony Pictures film and the highest post-pandemic opening-day box office in the country.
