2 cops hurt in Kidapawan blast

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Two policemen from Arakan town in Cotabato province were wounded when an improvised explosive device was detonated by the side of the highway in Barangay Sikitan, Kidapawan City Friday morning.

Reports said the blast happened just as the victims’ patrol vehicle passed the point where the bomb had been planted.

Only one of the wounded was identified, Police Officer 1 Ronald Española.

Authorities suspect the New People’s Army to be behind the explosion.
