MANILA, Philippines — A lawyer maintained that it was “very suspicious” for police to have disabled the closed circuit television system at the home of Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog, who was killed, along with 15 others, in what authorities insist were shootouts during simultaneous raids early Sunday morning.

In an interview over Aksyon sa Umaga, lawyer Ferdinand Topacio, counsel of Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog, who was arrested during the raids, wondered why authorities “destroyed the hard drive” of the CCTVs inside the slain mayor’s home since, if the operation in Ozamiz was aboveboard, the captured footage would be the best evidence of this.

Meanwhile, a survivor of the raid on the mayor’s home recalled that power went out twice past 2 a.m. Sunday just before “masked men” barged into Parojinog’s home.

She spoke of shouts for help as the mayor was being led down the stairs, followed by a loud explosion and successive gunshots. She also claimed the mayor had been beaten up.
