Grammy Award-winning singer Mariah Carey continues her reign as the undisputed “Queen of Christmas” as her beloved holiday hit returned to the top spot of the Billboard Hot 100 this week.

The “Songbird Supreme” has logged a total of 13 weeks on the top of the chart since she released the Christmas pop favorite “All I Want For Christmas Is You” in 1994, making it the biggest holiday song of all time.

The song also made history as it scored a record-breaking 16 weeks on top of the Billboard Global 200 chart, which ranks songs based on streaming and sales activity compiled from more than 200 countries and territories around the world.

“All I Want For Christmas Is You” tops the Billboard Hot 100 after Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” spent the last two weeks at No. 1, having led for the first time 65 years after its release.

The Billboard Hot 100 blends all-genre U.S. streaming (official audio and official video), radio airplay and sales data, with the lattermost metric reflecting purchases of physical singles and digital tracks from full-service digital music retailers.

Digital singles sales from direct-to-consumer sites are excluded from chart calculations.

“All I Want For Christmas Is You” was originally released as part of Mariah’s album “Merry Christmas” in November 1994.

TIME magazine considers the uptempo track as one of the “ultimate modern Christmas anthems.”

The magazine also described it as a “veritable pop masterpiece” that is “unrivaled by any of its contemporary peers and more than able to hold its own with longtime favorites of the holiday canon.”

The song was written by Mariah and her longtime collaborator at that time, Walter Afanasieff.

According to Mariah, she had “absolutely no idea the impact the song would eventually have worldwide” when she had written it.

“I’m so full of gratitude that so many people enjoy it with me every year,” the songstress said in a 2021 interview.

To mark its global dominance and impact, an activation in the Philippines and Southeast Asia has gone viral on the X (formerly Twitter) platform which features Mariah getting “defrosted from a giant Christmas snowball.”

After seeing the SM Mall of Asia Globe campaign that blew up, she acknowledged the post with a positive response, complete with celebratory emojis.

Embracing the festive spirit with unmatched enthusiasm, the musical diva also gifted her festive “lambs” — her fanbase — with a brand-new music video, “All I Want For Christmas Is You (Festive Lambs Edition).”

Mariah’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is available on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment.
