Actress Isabel Granada is in a coma in a hospital in Qatar after suffering an aneurysm and multiple cardiac arrests, her friend, actress Bianca Lapus, reported on Facebook Wednesday morning.
“I would like to ask for healing prayers for my friend, sis Isabel Granada,” Bianca opened her post. She then cited “initial info” from promoter and former actor Robby Taroza, who said Isabel had been rushed to the Heart Hospital in Doha where the 41-year-old actress was in critical condition after suffering “massive internal bleeding in the head” — a brain aneurysm.
Bianca updated her post with information from a Filipino nurse named Michael Soliven, who said Isabel was transferred to the nearby Hamad General Hospital where it was confirmed that she had suffered internal bleeding due to a brain aneurysm. Isabel was due for a major operation on Wednesday.
Bianca also cited information from an unidentified respiratory therapist that Isabel had suffered six cardiac arrests, presumably the reason why she was initially brought to Heart Hospital, which specializes in cardiology services.
Isabel is in Qatar on a business tour of the Middle East with her husband of two years, entrepreneur Arnel Cowley. As marketing director of Star Net, her husband’s multi-level marketing company, the actress was one of the invited speakers at the Philippine Trade and Tourism Conference – Qatar held at Shangri-La Hotel Doha on October 20.
Earlier this month, Isabel and Arnel toured the United Arab Emirates to seek investments from overseas Filipino workers. She also performed in shows held in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Fujairah.
