MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The Philippine National Police today launched a mobile app for the police force — and also for civilians — to remember and understand the value of Human Rights.

Dubbed as the “Know Your Rights” app, the mobile application was released by the PNP Human Rights Affairs Office (HRAO), and said that the mobile application can be downloaded from Google Play Store by Android mobile phone users.

Once downloaded, all human rights advisories and policies crafted by the Philippine National Police can be access through the app even without internet connection.

The text-based app also include the contents of the New Miranda Warning Pocket Card with Anti-Torture Reminders, said Chief Supt. Dennis Siervo, chief of the PNP Human Rights Affairs Office (HRAO) in a statement.

Civilians can also download and access the app as a refresher on Human Rights, but the app itself is targeted towards field police officers, especially in far-flung areas, engaged in the operations against all types of criminality.

The launch of the app coincides with the celebration of the National Human Rights Consciousness Week with the theme “Stand Up for Someone’s Right Today” and the upcoming observance of the International Human Rights Day on December 10, according to the PNP Human Rights Affairs Office (HRAO).
