On February 14, Wednesday, Venice Grand Canal on McKinley Hill in Taguig City recreates the grandeur of Carnevale di Venezia Festival in Venice, Italy.
The free show, Aqua Y Carnevale is reminiscent of the opening ceremony of Venice’s Carnevale di Venezia Festival that is watched by thousands of onlookers every single year in Italy.
For the first time in the Philippines, mall goers will enjoy the special 30-minute show that revolves around the story of two lovers, intertwined by Cupid, who are trying to find their way towards each other through a series of interpretative dance. Their love will be put to the test with the presence of an adversary who intends to keep the two couples apart.
The backdrop of the show is the mall’s man-made canal where performers will be dancing and gliding atop gondolas. Elaborate production design is an added treat to the audience. Imagine acrobats doing ballet movements and with Venetian Festival-inspired spectacles such as jellyfish installations, dragonfly fairies, fire dancers, illuminating costumes, among others. Venice’s famous ornate carnival masks will also be seen either as costumes or as giant masks as displays.
Making the event even more festive are live art sketching sessions, a Love Notes wall installation, mime artists, love locks, gondola rides, a 15-piece grand orchestra, roving musicians, a string quartet, and a grand fireworks display to cap the evening.
