Social media users slammed a Facebook user who shared pictures of the Iloilo Diversion Road with a misleading caption where he claimed that it was taken in Davao City, the provincial stronghold of the Dutertes.
User Jan Oxley wrote, “Ganito kami sa Davao. Displinado, malinis, walang traffic. Inggit na naman mga anti-Duterte.”
However, Iloilo residents and those who knew people who live there stated that the pictures were taken in their city, not in Davao.
Freelance writer Philip Lustre Jr. shared the post and claimed that his niece, who lives in Iloilo City, believes it was taken in their city.
Other social media users debunked Oxley’s post as well, stating that the pictures were taken in Benigno S. Aquino Avenue (Diversion Road) located at Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
A quick Google search confirms that it was indeed taken in Iloilo.
A Twitter user even shared pictures of the Benigno S. Aquino Avenue and added some information about it to completely debunk Oxley’s claim.
The pictures were initially shared in a Facebook group called “Freedom Wall (original).”
While the group can no longer be found in the popular social media platform as of this writing, another group exists bearing the same name, albeit in a different letter case.
It is unclear if it is the same group that changed its name or whether it is totally unaffiliated with “Freedom Wall (original).”
