A bakeshop chain, known for merienda staples and pastries, penned a letter to its patrons highlighting the price increase of its baked products due to inflation.
Lola Nena’s issued an update of its price index in a letter posted on Facebook on July 18.
“Price Increase Update. We aim to make good on our promise to keep improving our goods and services (heart emoji). We love all of you, mga apo!” the management said.
In the letter, Lola Nena’s said that its increase in prices is due to the rising costs of ingredients, packaging and utilities.
“We are beyond grateful that you have joined us in our journey to continuously spread happiness through our food,” it said.
“As much as we would like things to stay the same, we ask for your understanding as it has become necessary to implement a price increase due to rising costs of ingredients, packaging, gas and utilities,” it added.
The letter ended with the following comforting message:
“Life has its challenges, but rest assured, one thing is constant: Lola will be here to share in all your ups and downs. We aim to make good on our promise to keep improving our goods and services. Thank you!”
According to the post, here are the new standard retail prices of Lola Nena’s products as of July 25.
- Classic Donut – P24 per piece
- Triple Cheese Donut – P33 per piece
- Siopao Tostado – P16 per piece
Prices of these products via delivery service app will vary.
Its patrons, meanwhile, expressed empathy for their favorite bakery joint.
“Ok lang sakin. At least they give back what we paid for by providing good quality food products,” a Facebook user said.
“Okay lang po, Lola. That’s understandable, especially in these difficult times. We know this is a tough decision you have to make, and we are always here to support you,” another Facebook user commented.
As of writing, the post has garnered 1,400 reactions, 209 comments and 122 shares.
The Philippine Statistics Authority reported last month that inflation rose 6.1% year-on-year in June.
Based on a report, data further showed that costs in transport, food, fuel and housing are the expenses that surged based on the prices from the same period last year.
