A bus company is temporarily discontinuing complimentary beverages and snacks on its luxury bus services amid rising operating costs.
Victory Liner, Inc. on Tuesday, August 12, announced that it will suspend the complimentary bottled water and snacks provided on its Royal Class and First Class buses for the meantime.
It cited the “continuing rise in diesel prices and operating costs” in its decision, saying it must prioritize its resources “toward bus safety and maintenance, reliable operations,” and keeping its trips on the road for the communities it serves.
“We understand that these amenities are part of the premium travel experience you expect from us, and we sincerely apologize for this temporary adjustment,” the bus company’s advisory read.
During this challenging period, we must prioritize our resources toward bus safety and maintenance, reliable operations, and keeping our trips on the road for the communities we serve,” it added.
The bus company said called for understanding and patience amid the change and added that it looks forward to “restoring these amenities as soon as operating conditions improve.”
In the comments section, a Facebook user asked whether passengers on the First Class and Royal Class buses would have a “meal stop” in lieu of the changes.
“Mabuhay! Paumanhin wala po, point to point pa din po ito,” the bus company replied.
Victory Liner offers a First Class and Royal Class bus service for a premium passenger experience.
The First Class is a non-stop luxury bus service with reclining seats, Wi-Fi connection, charging ports, an onboard restroom and complimentary snacks.
The Royal Class, meanwhile, is a luxury, double-decker sleeper bus with cabin-style sleeping berths, Wi-Fi, charging ports, reading lights, blanket and complimentary snacks.
Earlier this year, the bus company imposed fuel-saving measures on its trips amid rising diesel costs due to the conflict in the Middle East.
