DOT’s take on ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ trend earns praise online

A promotional video from the Department of Tourism (DOT) wowed Filipinos with its take on the “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” closing credits trend, adopting the Marvel film’s cinematic style.

The government agency’s official marketing page posted the clip on August 7, showcasing the Philippines through the popular video format.

“Panibagong Umaga. Directed by Nature. Starring The Philippines,” the DOT said in an Instagram post.

It also said the video was “produced by every Filipino, featuring Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao.”

The post has so far garnered more than 17,600 likes and several comments from Filipinos, with many praising the creative edit.

“In fairness, kudos to the new admin now. Content is contenting, ahahhaha makes sense and is actually really good,” an online user wrote.

“‘YAAAAAN, GANYAN,” another commented, adding raised hand emojis.

“GANITO DAPAT,” a different Pinoy wrote with clapping hand emojis.

“Why am I crying?” another commented.

Travel content creator Jak Ponpon, also known online as “JAK Seventy-Three,” shared his own take of the video trend, highlighting Cebu.

Another travel content creator, Cynthjhune Goden, also shared his version of the video trend.

“When the post-credit scene from ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ influences you so much that you just have to create your own,” he wrote.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” continues to dominate the local box office, officially grossing P1,055,450,903, or over P1 billion, in its second weekend in theaters.

The feat was achieved in just 12 days, with fans still flocking to cinemas as the film continues to screen in more than 600 theaters nationwide.

Set four years after “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” the superhero film follows Peter Parker as he deals with the aftermath of Doctor Strange’s spell, which erased the world’s memory of his identity.
