Filipinos unearthed old photos of PBA courtside reporter Apple David and collegiate basketball player Chad Gammad amid discussions about their age difference.
The discussion came after the student-athlete was interviewed on July 26 ahead of NCCA Season 102, in which he will play for Letran Knights, the men’s basketball team of Colegio de San Juan Letran.
Chad said he was confident in his ability to lead the team, citing Letran Knights head coach Allan Ricardo‘s confidence in him.
“Kailangan ko lang mag-step up,” he said.
A video of the interview gained attention on X (formerly Twitter) after an online user juxtaposed a 2015 photo of Chad with his girlfriend in response to the post.
“Senior high school graduate [versus] Senior courthouse reporter 12 years,” the user wrote, sharing screengrabs of photos of the pair.

Another X user went the extra mile by digging up older photos of the two.
The photos showed Apple flaunting her attire at a PBA game, while Chad was still a child pictured with his parents.
“Apple and Chad in 2015?????”
The photo showed Apple as a young woman and was posted on her Facebook account on May 26, 2015.
Meanwhile, Chad’s photo was uploaded as a Facebook cover photo by his mother, Artie Gammad, on April 24, 2015. It showed him as a child sitting on a chair, wit his parents standing behind him.
He was estimated to be around seven years old at that time.

The post has garnered 5,400 likes and almost 800 reposts on X.
The juxtaposition of the two photos drew reactions from some Filipinos, who noted their 15-year age gap.
“Ngayon niyo sabihin na okay lang relasyon nilang dalawa,” an online user wrote.
“Mas lalong naging weird,” another commented with a crying emoji.
“Mukhang matanda lang ‘yung tatay at nanay ni Chad [kay] Apple ng ilang taon,” a different Pinoy said.
“‘Yung boyfie niya patungtong pa lang ng Grade 1, nagtatrabaho na siya, girllllll,” another X user commented.
Earlier this month, an old video of Apple sharing her dating preferences went viral. In the clip, she said she did not want to date a guy who was “younger” than her.

Apple’s relationship with Chad previously drew attention, with some Filipinos expressing concerns over their 15-year age gap, particularly since Chad who had only recently reached legal age.
Apple earlier admitted that she and Chad had “clicked,” saying that some things in life simply happen and that she “cannot explain it.”
She also acknowledged that theirs was a “very risky relationship” but appealed to the public to be “kind enough” to allow them to take the “risk.”
“Sa buhay ba natin, lagi tayong nakakapili? Paano ‘yung mga bagay na biglang dumating na lang na sitwasyon tapos sometimes, you just can’t explain it. Like, I cannot explain it,” Apple said last month.
She also denied allegations of “grooming” Chad, who turned 18 years old in October 2025.
Last May, reports surfaced that they had already been in a relationship for a month at that time.
