CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna — The Police Regional Office IV-A in Calabarzon will deploy 241 personnel to Marawi City to augment government forces in continuing operations against the Maute terrorist group.
Calabarzon police director Chief Superintendent Mao Aplasca said the contingent will focus on law enforcement, conducting checkpoints, security operations, search and rescue, and other police functions in support of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Of the 241 police personnel, 70 are from the Regional Public Safety Battalion, 35 from the Batangas Police Provincial Office, and 34 each from Cavite, Laguna, Rizal and Quezon provincial police offices. Calabarzon stands for the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon.
“I want you to bring the banner of Calabarzon high. We have to defend our country. We have our sworn duty that we took when we joined this noble profession,” Aplasca told the departing personnel. “The mission will not be easy, but it is not impossible. We should be ready anytime, our services is needed anywhere in the Philippines.”
Superintendent Chitadel Gaouiran, chief of the Police Regional Public Information Office, said the RPSB-4A contingent of 70 personnel will be the first to leave on Tuesday.
The rest of the contingent will be placed on alert to replace them after a month or deploy on orders of higher authority.
The Calabarzon RPSB was assigned as a peacekeeping force during the elections in Lanao del Sur and Maguindanao.
