The LPU Pirates stamped their dominance in NCAA Season 93 basketball tournament, sweeping the 18-game elimination round to book an automatic ticket to the championship series.
The Pirates completed the rare feat after outlasting defending champions San Beda in a double overtime thriller, 107-105, on Thursday.
Mike Nzeusseu piled up 27 points and 21 rebounds while MVP contender CJ Perez scored 20 points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals.
LPU now awaits the team that will survive the stepladder knockout phase. San Beda (16-2), whose only two losses were dealt by the Pirates, settled for No.2.
The playoffs will begin with No.3-ranked JRU Heavy Bombers taking on the No.4 seed which is still contested by Letran, Arellano and San Sebastian.
