Liza Soberano’s Miss Universe makeup tutorial look renews clamor for her pageant bid

“I thought it was real.”

Actress Liza Soberano once again fueled wishes for her to join the Miss Universe pageant after Pinoy-blooded social media sensation Patrick Starrr shared some pictures of her from his makeup tutorial video.

The beauty vlogger on Saturday did a “Miss Universe Philippines makeup tutorial” with the actress, who is currently in the United States to pursue her goal of becoming a “world-class actress.”

“Liza Soberano is a Filipino actress, model and singer, and I am over the moon, or the universe rather, that she’s here as my Miss Universe Philippines to transform in full glamour!” he exclaimed.

Liza donned a sparkly off-shoulder black gown which was paired with a replica of the iconic Mikimoto used in the prestigious beauty pageant from 2002 to 2007 and 2017 to 2018.

“It feels right. No, I’m just kidding. I feel very honored to be in your presence,” she said to Patrick.

The actress also said that she “feels so glamorous right now” and that she has never done “the whole pageant look” before.

Patrick shared some pictures of the result on his Instagram, where it has reached more than 100,000 likes as of writing.

“Did someone ask for a Miss Universe Philippines makeup tutorial with @lizasoberano,” he wrote.

Liza’s pageant look amazed fellow Filipinos, with some claiming that they “thought it was real.”

Others quipped that the actress should join the beauty pageant.

“We need this Miss Universe! Manifesting Queen Liza Soberano,” a Twitter user wrote with a sparkles emoji.

“VERY MISS UNIVERSE,” another user commented with crown emojis.

“@lizasoberano, please join na dzai [day],” a different Pinoy quipped, tagging Liza’s account.

“I really love Liza Soberano to be the next [Philippine] candidate for Miss Universe 2023… I hope so,” wrote another Twitter user.

Liza has long been pushed by her fans and other social media users to join a beauty pageant before.

In 2017, she portrayed Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach in the “Korona” episode of the drama anthology “Maalaala Mo Kaya,” which featured the life story of the first contemporary Philippine Miss Universe titleholder.

Liza previously said that while she was “flattered and grateful” for the comments pushing her to join a beauty pageant, she thought it was not for her.

The actress also said that she is an “introvert” and that she fears facing large audiences.

Meanwhile, Celeste Cortesi of Pasay is representing the Philippines in the 71st edition of Miss Universe being held in New Orleans, Louisana in the United States.

The grand coronation is airing on January 15 (Manila time).

If Celeste wins, she will be the fifth Miss Universe titleholder of the country.
