Filipina-American actress Liza Soberano responded to American producer and director Joe Russo‘s viral praise for her in her debut Hollywood film, “Lisa Frankenstein.”
The half-Pinay attended the Los Angeles premiere of her first film project in the world’s biggest movie industry on Monday, along with its leading stars Kathryn Newton and Cole Sprouse.
Liza plays Taffy, the kind and clueless stepsister of Kathryn’s Lisa Swallows, a misfit teenager who revives a 19th-century corpse.
“Riverdale” star Cole plays The Creature.
The upcoming horror-comedy is the feature directorial film of Zelda Williams, late comedian Robin Williams’ daughter.
It has a screenplay penned by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody, who has won awards for another coming-of-age comedy-drama “Juno.”
“Lisa Frankenstein” centers around Lisa Swallows who accidentally reanimates a handsome corpse from the Victorian era during a lightning storm.
The narrative unfolds as the pair embark on a darkly humorous journey seeking love, happiness and a few missing body parts along the way.
The coming-of-age love story is set against the backdrop of the 1980s while blending the elements of comedy, romance, and fantasy.

Lisa’s appearance in the film was praised by Joe, who has directed “The Au Pair Nightmare” and produced “Nightmare Cinema” and “The Greatest Beer Run Ever,” among others.
“Movies like LISA FRANKENSTEIN can be great vehicles to break new stars, and @zeldawilliams and Diablo Cody found a superstar in Liza Soberano, who steals every scene she’s in as Lisa’s step-sister, Taffy,” he posted on the X (formerly Twitter) platform before.

The Pinay was informed about Joe’s reaction to her performance during the premiere of her Hollywood debut film.
“There’s this Filipino word called ‘kilig’ and it’s just when you get butterflies in your stomach and you feel, like, so much love for something,” she said to Deadline Hollywood.
“And that’s how I felt, like, about my decision, in like, moving to LA [Los Angeles] and, just like, working on building a career out here,” Liza added.
